Welcome to my blog about manga.
It has been created to, hopefully, provide a comfortable and useful setting for my virtual seminar about josei manga for North American audiences, particularly focusing on public library collection development.
I love manga and I think more people should love it as much as I do. I would like to strike a balance between a serious consideration of the genre – the art, writing and cultural context and implications – while maintaining a sense of my excitement and infatuation with manga. My aspiration is to succeed in convincing non-readers of the value of manga and to enhance the enjoyment of people who already love it.
If you have stumbled across this blog because of your interest in this topic I would be really appreciate any comments or corrections you care to contribute. I don’t consider myself an authority – I’m just doing my best – so if you can help make this blog better with your knowledge and insights I would be grateful.
As an aside, I know that name of my blog is terrible! It doesn’t convey anything about the topic and might even seem a bit dismissive. All I can say in my defense is that it’s intended as a friendly invitation, it has an amusing personal significance for me as a statement and it’s also, well, relaxing.
Thanks for reading…
